It's the Ranger4 #DevOpsFriday5 series - today's contributor is Olaf Kilian. Take it away Olaf!
1) What’s your preferred definition of DevOps?
Collaboration of DEV and OPS and sharing a common goal.
2) When people ‘do’ DevOps, what’s the most common mistake you see them make?
To focus too much on the tools instead of working on the right mindset to enable DevOps.
3) How do you recommend an organisation new to DevOps start?
Set shared goals and objectives for DEV and OPS. Build small focus teams with experts from different domains (or departments) that share common objectives. Enable (cross departmental) collaboration, knowledge sharing and collective responsibility. Hire people that already have the right mindset.
4) What’s your prediction for what DevOps will look like in 2020?
It will be the norm -- as agile methodologies for software development have become already.
5) Where do you like to go to get a DevOps hit?
I go to people who work in a different domain / on a different topic to share knowledge, experiences, ideas and tools.About Olaf:
